Job description

About NODE

NODE envisions people-powered, digitally-first, campaigning, progressive organizations thriving and creating progressive political impact in their countries. NODE exists to facilitate connection, support, learning, and inspiration between its members on a regular basis.

NODE operates as a multi-hub environment: as a staff team, we support initiatives and welcome multiple centers of activity rather than centralizing coordination. We hold a gentle balance between doing enough to make collaboration fruitful and not over-structuring things while providing enough support for things to happen; so that network members can take the lead and things stay as decentralized as possible.

NODE currently consist of 8 organisations like  aHang (Hungary), #aufstehn (Austria), Campact (Germany), Declic (Romania), Skiftet (Sweden), Zazim (Israel) and others.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Network Manager to continue nurturing an exchange between NODE member organisations and also to bring our network collaboration to the next level. This person creates the conditions for exchange and learning between member organizations' staff, as well as for collaboration to be sustained over time. Central to the role is building and strengthening relationships and trust between people — the critical ingredient for collaboration to take root.

The Network Manager is expected to read the needs of the network, propose and shape NODE's program, and exercise sound independent judgment in translating those needs into activities, with decreasing day-to-day oversight over time. The Network Manager works closely with the Head of NODE but is trusted, with time, to run their area of work autonomously.

This position is a good fit for candidates with a variety of expertise, including in learning cohort design and facilitation, organizing, and managing coalitions to measurable impact. This position is an excellent opportunity to engage with power-building organizations across the progressive movement to help them be equipped for the opportunities and crises in the future.

Responsibilities and Tasks

The Network Manager reports to the Head of NODE Network and is responsible for following:

Program Design

Building a deep understanding of member organizations' aims and needs, and using it to shape NODE's community and network strategy (shared with the Head of NODE). Spotting collaboration opportunities across the network and translating them into concrete NODE activities, owning that process from idea to delivery. Identify gaps that require external expertise, and independently source, brief, and manage external experts and consultants. Take on other work as network needs emerge, exercising judgment on prioritization. This role will be responsible for developing the arc of engagements for member organisations that will help to improve their operations and campaigning.

Community & network development

Building and maintaining strategic relationships throughout the NODE network and nurturing relationships between members’ staff and beyond. In practice it would mean i.e. running regular check-ins with member organizations to surface needs and strengthen relationships and trust across the network. Nurture day-to-day communication and culture in NODE's online community space (Slack).

Program delivery

Own the planning and delivery of both remote and in-person collaboration including logistics, agenda design, and follow-ups. Organize and facilitate regular community activities including webinars, guest speaker presentations, trainings, thematic cohorts meetings. Contribute to organisation of in-person summits (two per year). Scope, commission, and help deliver trainings that respond to network needs, working with both internal and external facilitators.

Knowledge & communications

Collecting and organizing materials produced by member organizations into an accessible online library. Maintaining and improving NODE's organizational knowledge base.

Communicating with clarity, timeliness, and a balance of levity and gravity. Demonstrating the utmost in reliability and follow through. Proactively anticipating challenges and addressing them.
